Why wouldn’t I just install a store bought epoxy product?
A professionally installed epoxy floor by a certified installer will give you a high quality and beautiful floor which will last. The most important part of any concrete surface application is surface preparation. We use top quality planetary and hand-held diamond grinding equipment with an environmentally safe vacuum system to collect dust and contaminants. We also use only commercial/industrial grade epoxy products which are guaranteed and proven over millions of square feet of concrete.
Is the epoxy floor very strong, what can damage it?
There are four primary measures that are important for epoxy applications. They are compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and bond strength. The method used by ASTM testing is ASTM-C881. The compressive strength of most flexible epoxies start at slightly under 10,000 PSI (pounds per square inch). To put this in perspective, quality concrete has a compressive strength of 3,000 PSI. The tensile load is the opposite direction of compressive strength. It’s like bending a toothpick between your fingers, the failure will occur on the tensile side. Flexural strength is measured by the ability of epoxy to resist being pulled apart and bond strength is how well it bonds to substrate. All of our products meet or exceed all ASTM standards. An epoxy floor will be very durable and last for years with reasonable care.
What do I need to do in preparation for your arrival?
We need to have everything off the floor before we arrive. If project is under 1,000 sq ft, at least 2 20 amp circuits are needed. If large grinding machines are necessary, a licensed electrician contracted by building owner to hardwire outlet for grinder will be necessary.
How do I clean my new epoxy floor?
For a light cleaning just use a broom, dust mop, or micro-fiber mop. A simple neutral cleaner applied with a mop works great for a deeper cleaning.
Won’t the repair work cause a lot of mess around my home or shop?
Our process utilizes a dustless grinding system and leaves very little mess.
How long does a typical installation take?
Most installations can be completed within 1 to 3 days depending on the coating system used.
How long do I have to wait before I can walk or drive on the surface?
Depending on the time of year and temperature, you can normally walk on surface within 24 – 48 hours and drive on surface within 3 to 5 days.
Can this be used outdoors as well as indoors?
Any outdoor concrete can be ground and recoated with polymer modified cementitious overlays that can be stamped, stained and custom designed.
Is the floor slippery?
We can add a slip resistant additive to any application.
